Louisiana has 8,619 unresolved homicides from 1976-2025, per the Murder Accountability Project.
We’re dedicated to renewing focus on cold case homicides and select unsolved missing persons cases in Louisiana where foul play is suspected. Our goal is to keep these stories alive and, hopefully, prompt someone with key information to come forward. Our database is growing steadily: cases are added once their status is confirmed through a public records request or another verifiable source.
Victims below appear in random order each time the page reloads. See the Case Index for a complete list of profiles.
If you have information about a case featured here, please contact the investigating agency or crimestoppers, the numbers at the top of the respective profile.
About the Project
Louisiana Cold Case Project is a volunteer research initiative run by a licensed private investigator and former hostage negotiator. Originally known as Sleuth & Justice, the project researches, verifies, and organizes Louisiana homicides and select missing persons cases that have remained unsolved for five years or longer. Profiles are published here and shared on social media to rekindle public awareness, spark a memory, and generate leads.
Unsolved Homicide Data
More than 8,600 Louisiana homicide records from 1976-2025 are coded “uncleared” in data compiled by the Murder Accountability Project. The dataset may include reporting gaps, errors, or cases that were later solved, but it shows the scale of Louisiana’s unresolved homicide history. We’re independently reviewing these figures, and putting names to these cases, through public records requests to approximately 185 law enforcement agencies. See the parish-by-parish counts.
Have Information?
Firsthand information should go directly to the investigating agency, whose contact details are on each profile. If you prefer, you can submit it through our Tip Form for forwarding to the appropriate authorities. The project does not offer rewards.
